During the UESTC 14th International Education Exchange Month, the School of Public Affairs and Administration invited overseas partner universities, including the University of Nottingham, University College London, UK, the University of St. Mary, and the University of Maryland, USA to join the “Online Study Abroad Fair” as a series of SPAA Events, introducing cooperative programs, admissions policies, aiming to build a platform for students to go abroad for exchanges and further studies.
On the afternoon of November 17th, Ms. Lily Ma, Director of the Shanghai office, the University of Nottingham, UK was invited to share the admissions policy, and the master's program cooperated with our school. She further answered students' questions about English language requirements, living expenses, scholarships, etc. in detail. Nearly 100 students participated in this activity.
In April, 2021, our school initiated Master program cooperation with the University of Nottingham, Undergraduates and postgraduates of our school can apply for Master programs in the School of Sociology and Social Policy of Nottingham University.
On the evening of November 17th, St. Mary's University of the United States joined the "Online Study Abroad Fair". Jennifer Stevenson, Assistant Dean of the International Program of the School of Law and Service Professor of Law, and Armando Prado, Director of Graduate Law Admissions respectively introduced the advantages of the School of Law and Master of Laws (LL.M.), Master of Jurisprudence (M.Jur.) and other graduate programs. In the Q&A session, they responded inquiries concerning the specific admissions policies and fees in detail. This activity attracted more than 150 students.
On November 21, the School of Public Policy(SPP), University of Maryland were invited to attend "Online Study Abroad Fair". Mr Michael Goodhart, the Associate Director of Executive Programs, and Ms Taryn Faulkner, the assistant director of Admissions and Student Affairs presented the why SPP, MPS-PA and postgraduates programs, admission policies. Students exchanged and interacted with them on admissions requirements, scholarship policies, PhD applications, and living expenses.
Under the collaboration agreement with University of Maryland(College Park), SPAA undergraduates applying for the Master of Professional Studies in Public Administration (MPS-PA) program can enjoy a discount on tuition fees. Additionally, MPS-PA includes inter-ship courses to provide students with certain practical opportunities to understand the public sector.
On November 22, Professor Nora Colton, a health and international development economist, the former Pro-Vice-Provost (Postgraduate Education) at University College London (UCL), was invited to deliver a lecture with the topic of "Lessons from the Pandemic for Healthcare System" at the whole university level. She talked about the challenges of the COVID-19 epidemic to the UK healthcare systems, and discussed the function of public healthcare systems in the post-epidemic era.
UCL Global Business School for Health is the first business school in the world focused on health and healthcare. As the inaugural director of GBSH, She then introduced postgraduate programs such as Master of Digital Health and Entrepreneurship, and Master of Global Health Management, and the admissions policy which enables UESTC students to have a good understanding of GBSH Master programs.
This November is UESTC International Education Month, which is the most vibrant and international season of the year. Due to the COVID pandemic, the events were held online in 2022. Students gave us the feedback that it is a good chance to speak directly with admissions officers and program leaders of prestigious overseas universities. They also learned a lot of very useful information about the program application, which is helpful for their future when they apply to study abroad.
