On November 6, 2022, SPAA organized an 18th Academic Workshop for an international master’s in Public Management on thesis modification via Tencent meeting. Prof  Zhao Shurong, Prof  Yang Jing and Dr Kuang Yalin were invited to join this event. This workshop attracted nearly 30 international students to participate.

The workshop focused on “How to revise your thesis according to the Anonymous Review”. Firstly, students who are planning to graduate in December and their supervisors shared how to respond and revise their thesis according to their anonymous external comments, and then followed by a detailed discussion among faculty members and students since thesis modification is an important stage before the defence.

During the session, Prof. Zhao gave a brief explanation about “Writing Good Thesis & Dissertation(for Social Science Graduate)”, which was supportive for new students and students who are working on their thesis. Additionally, Dr Kuang Yalin gave helpful feedback on the frequent questions about writing a master’s thesis.

Students in attendance used the presentation to figure out the answers to some requirements they had previously struggled to understand. The workshop was one of several educational initiatives by SPAA to assist students in revising their thesis and ultimately producing a high-quality thesis. The students all agreed with the program's conclusion that the workshop was valuable and informative and they are looking forward to the next workshop.
